2023 Guide for Selling on Etsy, Ideas for Every Quarter: Part 2

If you’re thinking about starting an Etsy shop in 2023 but are not 100% confident about what items to offer in your store, this guide will show you the best quarter-by-quarter selling on Etsy.

In this part, I’ll go over the year's second season and what kind of items you should offer during this quarter.

We’ll talk about the most popular items for these days you can offer in your Etsy store, giving you a steady stream of passive income:  

• Mother’s Day

• Graduations

• Father’s Day

• Summer Weddings

Let’s get right into what you should have for Quarter 2 in your Etsy shop!

Etsy for Mother's Day 

Surpassing Valentine’s Day in consumer spending, Mother’s Day amounts to over $31.7 billion spent on gifts. For all the great moms out there, consider offering a customizable mug, hat, fun kitchen accessories, or my favorite, Treat Yo’self items. 

First up, these glass mugs are doing really, really well on Etsy!

I found this frosted mug on Printify for only $5, which you can customize as a gift. 

Here's another example of a mug that did really well in 2022, which I absolutely adore. 

And here's a latte mug on Printify for only $7 that offers you the option to do an all-over print. When searching for products on Printify, make sure you look for “Wraparound exterior” to print a design on both the front and back.

Let’s move on to embroidered hats. 

These kinds of hats are super in style this year–

Printify actually has this really cute distressed trucker hat you can use to customize however you’d like– 

Now, let’s take a look at some adorable kitchen accessories. 

When you search on Esty for kitchen gifts for women, you get results like 

• aprons

• oven mitts

• mugs

• towels

• cutting boards 

So now, go into Printify, go to their catalog, scroll over to accessories, and click kitchen accessories.

Here is where you’ll find these items you can customize for moms–

Make your creations and upload them to your Etsy shop, remembering that Printify will do all the work, resulting in completely passive income for you!

Finally, moms need some love but don’t take the time they deserve. 

So here is an example of a comfy treat-yourself item as a way to say “Thanks, Mom!”

I found this by typing in “custom blanket for mom” on Etsy and found a dozen different examples of what you can do–

Etsy gifts for graduation

Up next, in Q2, we’ve got graduations! For this event, I’ve picked out 

• funny candles

• celebration clothes

• personalized journals 

If you search on Etsy for “graduation candle,” all these adorable and funny listings come up. I’m talking pages and pages of stuff. 

So all you need to do is go to Printify, catalog, home and living, and home decor, search for “candle,” and Printify has these five options you can customize–

Add your funny sayings and upload them to your Etsy shop. 

The next thing I want you to check out are celebration clothes items.

The cool thing about this category is you can actually customize clothing for the graduate, or you can make an awesome bundle, like the one below, for all the graduation attendees, which will increase your sales. 

I saw a bunch of these personalized journals trending on Etsy–

Head on over to Printify’s catalog and click on journals and notebooks. 

Here you can choose from a ton of options, both hard and soft covers, and customize them!

Etsy personalized Father’s Day gifts

Shoppers intend to spend about $170 on gifts for their special dads. Look at some trending gifts you can customize for Father’s Day.

As you can see here–

when you type in funny shirts for dad on Etsy, you’ll see there are over 203k results!

This is a huge amount of listings to try and go through to find the perfect match, so instead of sorting by relevancy, sort by the TOP CUSTOMER REVIEWS. 

There are still hundreds of thousands of them but look through some.

Then, go to Printify, catalog, and under men’s clothing, and there are t-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, and long-sleeves; you’ll see so many different options.

So you can choose a sweatshirt and then decide which sweatshirt you want to move forward with. You’ll then go back into Etsy, look for the POPULAR NOW or BESTSELLER tag, and start emulating those same designs on your sweatshirt.

Next, we’ll take a look at some custom socks.  

On Etsy, tons of fun socks for Dads are super popular right now.

There are lots of BESTSELLERs and POPULAR NOWs.  

You can make these easily in Printify–

So you can see how the bottom of these feet have different sayings–

And finally, for your favorite dads… custom car accessories 

On Etsy, I typed in “custom license plate frame,” and as you can see, a good number of them are literally saying POPULAR NOW over and over again–

So on Printify, there are car mats, metal license plate frames, and license plates–

With these options, you can either make a super generic template like #1 DAD or allow your customer to customize these to their liking. 

Etsy gifts for summer wedding season

At the end of Q2, the wedding season begins!

An article on brides.com says the standard wedding season is between June and September. 

But I want you to be prepared for the upcoming wedding season NOW so that you can start trending for the proper keywords. So, when people start looking for “wedding gifts,” you will come up first in their search. 

So the ideas for wedding season gifts I want you to focus on are: 

• new home decor

• canvas prints

• planning items

• custom glasses

• Mr/Mrs apparel 

My first idea for you is new home decor, which goes hand-in-hand with custom name items, so let’s look at both of those at once.

Always a bestseller and super popular on Etsy is a customized pillow. 

On Printify, you can easily make multiple different sizes and types of pillows–

And when you head back to Etsy to work on your design, you can see tons of different options for exactly how to customize these.

Another really hot item for weddings is putting a photo on canvas. 

If you go to Printify and look under “home and living,” there is a “canvas” option. You can choose from stretched or polyester and even put a frame around a canvas.

All you need to do is get the image from your customer, and Printify will print it for you! 

Next, let’s take a look at planning helps. When you type in “wedding planning” on the Etsy search bar, there are almost 45k results!

You have: 

• wedding planners 

• wedding printables

• spreadsheets and checklists

So this is going to be a really cool one for anyone that needs to plan their own wedding or will be planning another person's wedding. These planning tools will help them know exactly what is needed to make the wedding happen without a hitch.

Finally, take a look at the apparel for Mr. and Mrs.

There are a bunch of different ways you work with apparel, but what's going to be really cool here is creating items that can be used for different seasons, as well as the honeymoon.

It’s the same concept as with the customizable graduation items – I actually made a customized bundle last year for one of my friend's bachelorette parties. This is another time when you can sell multiple options for the same item.
